On Wednesday, the Theangana High Court ordered the State Government to suspend all work on a land plot of 400 hectares adjacent to the University of Hyderabad (UOH), which became a dispute on the Den-do-on 3rd April.
A bench composed of the reigning chief judge Sujoy Paul and the judiciary Renuk Yara heard a dose of drink looking for a directive from the court to stop the exploitation of trees and cleaning the soil at Kancha Gachibowli.
The petitioners also questioned the state government’s decision to allocate the soil of Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (Tgic) and claimed that it violated the forest protection Act.
On March 30, Tgiic started development work on the site of Kancha Gachibowli according to the government order.
When publishing the matter for the next hearing of 3rd April, the court ordered that all work on the spot be stopped. This decision was followed by a request from Niranjan Reddy, an advisor to one of the petitioners who asked the court to intervene and stated that the cutting of trees continues unauthorized.
Sudarshan Reddy’s general advocate claimed that the petitions were based on Google images, which, according to the Supreme Court’s decision, are not permissible as evidence.
He also claimed that the country lies outside Hyderabad Central University (HCU) and has always been set aside for industrial purposes.
Niranjan Reddy informed the court that no tree over one meter in height should be interrupted without prior permission of justified agencies under the law on water, land and trees (Walta).
He also stated that there was an uncontrollable deforestation on the 400 acres.
Ecological disaster:
He proposed the situation “ecological disaster” and called on the proposer’s council to order the government to submit Nrsa images from last month to prove the “indiscriminate” destruction of the area.
The advisor for another petitioner argued that the flora and fauna within the 400 acre site belongs to the HCU or the state government-by because of the “narrow economic interests” of the authorities.
On Monday, Tgiic said he had set up his land ownership in court and that the UAH, a central university, does not own any part of the disputed land.
Meanwhile, the student groups from the UAH continue to protest against the Theangana government for the development of IT infrastructure and other projects on the web.
