Rajya Sabha passed the law by vote. The bill was approved last week in Lok Sabha.
The bill on immigration and foreigners, 2025, piloted by the Ministry of the Interior of the Union, is a comprehensive legislation to regulate all matters concerning foreigners and immigration.
Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi, against which the law in Rajya Sabha stated that the bill sends a message that all foreigners are “potential criminals” to be considered serious suspicion in India.
He demanded that he be sent to the Permanent Committee because he delegates excess power to low officials and, among other things, lack the provisions of appeal, supervision and responsibility.
“I get up to oppose this bill and seek substantial changes in its pernicious character. It is clearly designed for the lateral motifs by the government of the government trying to send the message of fear through the Architecture Architecture of Orwellian supervision for foreigners,” Singhvi said.
“This bill sends a message that all foreigners are potential criminals who need to be perceived with serious suspicion of India … India is intended to act as an unwelcome fort for their undesirable non-nurses,” Singhvi added.
Earlier, speaking at Lok Sabha 27 March, Minister of the Interior Union Amit Shah He stated that the bill will ensure that the country obtains up -to -date information about any foreigners visiting India and strengthening internal security.
Amit Shah claimed that those who come to India for business, education and investments are welcome, but those who represent the threat to security will face a strict action, adding that India is not “dharamshala”.
“Whether it is Rohingyas or Bangladesh, if they come to India to create riots, there will be strict measures against them,” the Minister of the Interior said.
