Jammu and Kashmir rains update: At least 11 dead, several missing in flash floods; rescue ops. in progress

In view of the prevailing monsoon conditions and the risk of emergencies due to heavy rains, flash floods, landslides, waterlogging and road blockages, the Katra Sub-Divisional Administration has set up a Monsoon Disaster Management Control Room to ensure quick response and effective coordination.

According to the order issued by Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Katra, Piyush Dhotra (JKAS), the control room will function under the overall supervision of Tehsildar Katra, Jatinder Singh, in close coordination with police, PWD, health, power, Jal Shakti, municipal authorities and other concerned departments.

The control room will continuously monitor the monsoon situation, receiving and recording reports of heavy rainfall, flash floods, landslides, damage to property and disruption of roads, electricity and drinking water supplies. It will also ensure timely transmission of situational reports to superior authorities for necessary action.
