In the middle of the protests over the construction of an overpass near Sarna Sthal (sacred place of tribes), Sarhul, the largest tribes festival, was celebrated on Tuesday (April 1, 2025).
The main Minister Hemant Soren visited several places, including Siramtoli, where an overpass was built. Several tribal clothing protested against the overpass reached the spot and shouted slogans against Mr. Soren and his government.
“We have been celebrating the Sarhul festival for years for years. Our ancestors have maintained the traditions of this natural festival intact and strong. We must continue to take this inherited tradition,” Soren said in addressing people in Siramtoli.
He added that people should commit themselves to maintain nature and move forward with the traditions of the tribal state.
Demonstrators who wear black ribbons also showed the black flags to Mr. Soren and his wife Kalpan Soren, who accompanied him to the worship program organized in Sarna Sthal.
Over the past few months, many tribal clothing has protested against the construction of the overpass. Specifically, they demanded the removal of the ramp they claimed to prevent access to their religious place. Frequent traffic movement on the overpass could disrupt the sanctity of the place, they added.
22 March, more than 40 tribal clothing was caused by Ranchi Bandh, which received great support.
Stive criticism of bjp
Bharatiya Janata (BJP) The State President and Opposition Leader Babulal Marlandi kicked the state government on this matter.
“Sarna is the identity of our faith, culture and tradition; it is the duty of each tribe (place). Yet the state government ignored the voice of the tribes that made the tribes deep indignation between the tribes,” he said.
“Being a tribe was expected to understand the pain of society and ensure the protection of the place of sarna communications with agitators. However, the government’s failure to prove that it is not willing to meet the requirements of the tribes,” he added.
Mr. Soren ordered the CEO of the Police Aurag Gupta to take no steps against those who organized violent protests that demand the removal of the overjection ramp.
This step comes after the case has been registered at the Police Station of Taste 30. March against the protesters who tried to break the ramp with a hammer.
In response to this development, Mr. Marlandi said he was submitting a case against the tribes against the construction of a nadjezková ramp and then giving instructions not to take any steps against them, was a “big drama”.

Ajay Tirkey, the President of the Central Sarna Committee, called on Sarny’s followers to celebrate Sarhula with joy and happiness. When he talked to the press, he said some tribes intentionally create controversy at the command of BJP.
