
The Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal decided to leave Mumbai, his home team, PTI news agency reported on Wednesday 2 April. Jaiswal’s step comes as a shock on the domestic cricket scene, due to its dramatic increase in the Indian cricket ecosystem with the team.
It is expected that the left -hander, who debuted with the T20i test and debut for India on the back of fertile performances in Ranja Trophy and Indian Premier League, will play next season for Goa.
According to PTI Jaiswal wrote on Tuesday at Mumbai Cricket Association and expressed his wish to go to Goa. PTI said that the government body accepted its application.
“Yes, it’s surprising. He had to think of something that would take such a step. He asked us to relieve him, and we accepted his request,” MCA official said on Wednesday PTI.
Jaiswal last played for Mumbai against Jammu and Kashmir in their Ranja Trophy Group and League Round from 23 to 25 January, after strict implementation of BCCI directives that all Indian players should play home cricket, if not national duties.
In this game, Jaiswal appeared in the ranji Trophy 2024-25, when Mumbai lost five goals to Jamm and Kashmir for the second time in the tournament history.
Jaiswal has been the Indian opener of the first selection since his test debut against West India in July 2023. Since then he has played 19 games and has strengthened with star performances on the largest scene.
It average more than 52 tests, including four hundreds and 10 fifties.
