AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Saturday criticized the approach of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government in trying to negotiate the payment of solatia to the relatives of two persons who allegedly died in custody.

In a statement, Mr. Palaniswami said it saddened the people of the state since Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay took charge just two months ago. Advising him not to take a “hands-off” approach to matters of governance, he said Mr. Vijay should run the government in such a way that he would not disappoint the people even if he was unable to bring any change.

The AIADMK general secretary reviewed the party’s performance in Nilgiris, Karur and Virudhunagar districts. He also announced that Amma Peravai State Secretary, RB Udhaya Kumar, would start a district inspection of the functioning of the unit from July 25. This will last until April 17, 2027.
