Snake bite death reveals chilling murder plan: Meerut man allegedly killed by wife, her lover

“Death by snakebite” unfolded into sheer horror in Meerut. A real-life crime story shook the community.

Atul Panwar (35) married Damini for love in 2019. They built a modest life together with their 6-year-old son. They rented a house in J Block Colony four months ago. They opened the school in April and chased a new beginning.

Then Atul was found dead on Friday morning. Damini claimed that he was bitten by a poisonous snake while sleeping. She said she discovered him motionless bringing him tea. Bite marks covered his arms and legs, reports The Indian Express.

Neighbors gathered, some claiming to have seen the snake themselves. Damini said the summer heat had driven her and their son outside. Atul, she said, slept alone at home that night.

Doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival at the hospital. It seemed like a tragic, freak accident; nothing more. But Atul’s father sensed something terribly wrong. Despite Damini’s furious objections, he demanded an autopsy. This decision would blow the case wide open.

Police looked into phone records and interviews. They revealed frequent contact between Damini and the driver. His name was Tushar aka Nikky aged 35 years. Confronted with the evidence, Damini reportedly broke down completely, the publication said.

She confessed to planning the murder with her secret lover. Four people are now under arrest. They are Damini, Tushar and two snake catchers, Sonu and Uday Kumar. They allegedly supplied the deadly weapon itself.

Police say the plot was chillingly calculated. On Thursday night, Damini allegedly drugged Atul’s milk with pills. Once he was unconscious, she called Tushar. He arrived with snake catchers and their reptiles.

The men allegedly released the snake on Atul’s bed. It bit him as he lay defenseless. They said they left the snake there afterwards. This created the perfect illusion of a tragic accident.

According to the police, the motive was chillingly simple. Damini’s affair combined with greed drove the plot. Atul held a ₹Life insurance for 20 thousand. Damini and Tushar reportedly promised snake charmers ₹5 lakhs. They have already paid the deposit ₹15,000.

It wasn’t the first attempt

Shockingly, police say this was not the first attempt at murder. Tushar allegedly rammed Atul’s motorcycle on purpose 20 days ago. According to The Indian Express, Atul survived, saved only by wearing a helmet.

When it was announced that the plan had failed, Damini reportedly reacted coldly. Atula is said to have discouraged him from reporting it to the police. She claimed that the attacker’s vehicle could not be traced anyway.

What appeared to be the cruelty of nature was allegedly a cold-blooded murder. It was a wife’s betrayal.
