Boulder, Colo. – Deion Sanders still interrupts everything he does – although he is full of cameras and reporters in the room – pick up Facetime from the son of Shedeur. During the NFL draft process, both Shedeur, both Shedeur, is expected to be the first round, and the security sewed, probably undefined free agent, advocates the abilities of his sons.
“We’ve already won,” he says, still proud dad.
But when Colorado started spring training this month, there were no players who left repeated with Sanders on their backs. He wasn’t sure who would be his Quarterback – the first for Sanders in coaching ranging back when he moved shilo from QB to a defensive back because Shedeur showed so much first promise.
His early morning mini-sermons into his team-technically first in Boulder promises that his luggage Louis Vuitton came soon-the Danes with Shilo and Shedeur staring at him.
The winner of the two -way star and the winner of Heisman Trophy Travis Hunter, whom Sanders called “another son”, is bound by the NFL and his name hears at the beginning of this month.
More than a few predicted that it would never happen. Critics, contradictory coaches, and even those who appreciated what Sanders did in his first two seasons in Boulder, were ready for Sanders to move when his sons did. He trained them throughout his career, and the most cynical of the audience was thinking out loud whether Sanders’ entire detour into university coaching was concerned with the smallest journey for his sons to the NFL.
Sanders is still here. He entered his third year in Colorado, came from a breakthrough 9-4 season, and last week he became one of a handful of college coaches earning more than $ 10 million a year and agreed to extend until 2029.

Like Colorado, a 57 -year -old man enters a new era that often calls the “third quarter” of his life.
“I love it because I have to wear only one hat,” Sanders said. “When you’re a dad and a coach, you’re wearing two hats. You train your butt, but naturally make sure your kids are fine. I adopted the kids in this team that I love, and I’m watching them, but it’s nothing like your biological children. … it’s different for me.”
Sanders has been consistent since he arrived in Boulder to take over the program 1-11, raised his love for his new home, its beauty and the reception between those on the campus.
Colorado had him rebuilt in the program – despite piles of criticism of overturning almost his list via the transmission portal in his first offseason – and made the benefits of letting Deion be Deion.
There’s a Bowl Game season, a record TV rating and an increase in ticket sales and school applications as Colorado offered.
Enter a new agreement that almost doubled Sanders’ salary. Sanders would owe $ 12 million if he took another job of 31 December 2025. This number will drop to $ 10 million the following year. However, Sanders can leave coaching without a financial punishment. If he returns to coaching, Colorado would owe for the agreed money to buy.
The short Dalliani with Dallas Cowboys did not get far from this offseason, but it was more than a lever game.
“If I had the opportunity to continue coaching Shilo and Shedeur, I would be excited,” Sanders said.
Sanders still runs the program in its own unique way.
The cameras remain constant in the device and record the program for multiple YouTube channels (including the eldest son Deion Deion Sanders Jr.) and the “Coach Prime” show on Amazon, which broadcast its third season this winter.
Actor Denzel Washington went to a team meeting last month to offer the team a certain wisdom.
“I wish I had my laptop with me, because I wrote so many things he gave us from,” Sophomore said offensive tools Jordan Seaton.
Sanders and Rocsi Diaz co -organize his talk show “We have time today”. Sanders had recently had to shoot down the rumors that they had walked. His five -year involvement in Tracea Edmonds ended in December 2023.
Coach Prime Gear is still the best seller in a team store. And his health seems to be improved. Sanders’ cuning – constant during the first year in Colorado – is gone and the left foot problems for a month have not spoken. Blood clots cost two fingers and almost his life in 2021. Before the season 2023 he needed more operations to help relieve constant pain.
Then there is football and trying to build on success last season without the three most respected Buff players.
“I don’t make a heritage,” Sanders said on “The Skip Bayless Show” last month. “I’m building them.”
For the first time, Sanders chairs the Battle of Quarterback as a college coach.
Juju Lewis, a four -star rookie, a late overturning after he was bound to USC for more than a year, will compete this spring with Kaidon Salter. Salter, a former four -star recruit, began his career in Tennessee before moving and playing in Liberty, where he represented 66 landings in two seasons and led the flames to the undefeated regular season and Fiesta Bowl in 2023.
“Who will be? We know. No one nod,” Sanders said. “We’re both testing to see how they react to what they throw on them (Shurmur) Pat (Shurmur).”
Perfect timing. ⌚

When Sanders launched his career coaching at Jackson State in 2020, the returning starter Jalon Jones inherited. In addition to Shedeur, he is the only Quarterback that spent the season as a starter Deion Sanders.
Now this exclusive club will grow from two to three. What should Lewis or Salter expect?
“I’m sure there were much more home dinner with Shedeur,” Jones said with a laugh.
For Jones it was an incredible accident in daily lessons that Sanders had tried to instill his sons for decades. Jones said he had learned professionalism to present himself, how to make an offense and how to better control his team. Jones said he had to see Sanders as “an ordinary guy like you and me”.
Jones threw on 11 landing with five more hurrying scores when Tigers ended 4-3 during the season played in the spring for Covid-19. He tried to play a weakness injury and lost his job late in the season. He partially converted because of the arrival of Shedeur Sanders. The three -star view has overturned its obligation from Florida Atlantic and Willie Taggart to Jackson State to play as his father.
Jones never got the same focus as Shedeur, while Deion’s QB. Shedeur led Jackson State to a record of 23-3 in two seasons, went 16-0 against SWAC rivals and broke a school record with 40 passing landings like Sophomore, who became the offensive player of the year Big 12 last season in Colorado.
On the days of the game, deions of dual roles were always exposed just before the kick -off. Deion would go along the side line and back with Shedeur, a tradition they have shared from youth football. Sanders was a coach on the way down. On the way back, father.
“I had no idea that happened,” Jones said. “That’s a special bond.”
Colorado’s new schedule about the new look still has some transmission from Sanders’ sons in the team.
Through his recruitment, Seaton, a newcomer All-American on the left tool, has built a relationship with Shedeur, who said he taught him “to be legendary” and lead with action.
“When you come like a newcomer with a lot of expectations, you walk on the shells because you don’t want to compress anything,” Seaton said. “When I got under me, it’s just confident and knowing who I am and I knew I was the best player in this field, and when I walk in any room, I wear myself in some way and translate it on the pitch.”
Lewis also created a relationship with Shedeur, QB, who is trying to succeed.
“It’s definitely a blessing to have a guy like him who just came to me,” Lewis said.

Deion Sanders looked at the transmission portal again to strengthen his list and add the guardian of Crisler, a three -year -old starter for Illinois. The Oatis Jehiem, a four -star gear from Alabama, should be a strengthening of the defense line.
But Sanders’ reliance on the portal decreased. More than half of his incoming class are transfers, which is far from the overall reworking in his first and second season, when the transmission majority of his newcomers were transfer.
Along with the loss of your Quarterback, it means that the replacement of a hunter means buffaloes loses its best receiver and defensive back. Shilo Sanders is one of the seven starters who got out of the defense of Buffaloes. The best four team receivers are also gone. Three offensive starters, including Seaton, are returning.
“We no longer have the best QB in America. We’ll have to play defense. It’s up to us,” said defensive coach Warren Sapp, professional football hall Famer promoted from postgraduate assistant in this offseason.
Defensive coordinator Robert Livingston could be the biggest maintenance for Buffaloes All Offseason, except for Sanders himself. Before the season, Sanders made a long -time assistant to Bengal’s first caller.
He improved the defense of Buffaloes from 115. In Yarda to 33. And he helped them jump from 124. In scoring to 42. With most of the same staff, they will save several key accessories in Pass Russher. Colorado almost doubled its payout for this offseason and increased it from $ 800,000 to $ 1.5 million.
“It must have been purpose No. 1,” Sanders said. “Rob was on the list of all to try to secure his services. He deserves everything he came to, and then some.”
Livingston said, “I say I was a dog on the side of the road that people drove and said,” That’s a good looking dog, but we’re good. ” They changed my life, changed my family’s life.
Before the season, Livingston said he was playing “Ted Lasso”, trying to get their players to believe in what they would do with little proof to show them. This year, faith is much easier, is a restarted list.
“I feel we’ll have a better team, really yes. I know we had a few phenomenal players to see that they would be developed, but as a team I feel as if we were better on both lines, better in the backfield – especially with the addition of Marshall Faulk,” Sanders said.
Faulka’s arrival as a trainer Running Backs is proof that Sanders doubled hiring the legends of NFL (and his friends) with little to any coaching experience to fill in his employees.
“You have no better knowledge. He was in Backfield with Peyton Manning and Kurt Warner told them about protection,” Sapp said. “We’re both here for Prime. We’re not here for money. We’ll give him the championship trophy.”
Domata Peko, 15 -year -old NFL and Gunnar White veteran, are new coaches for defensive and offensive lines. Former Buffaloes and NFL veteran Andre Gurode, who spent the last two seasons coaching in UFL, is an assistant offensive coach of the line. Sanders shared cameras time along with Faulk and SApp on the NFL network.
Faulk said he had said no opportunities coaching since 2005. In recent years, Sanders’ calls have taken place and have been drawn to the profession. Will take over Backfield, which placed on 133.
“I can guarantee that we will be better,” Faulk said.
“I’m addicted. I never thought I wanted this job. But, Oh, my God, I love it,” Sapp said. “Children respond to it and we are talking.”
The face and voice of Colorado football will still be the same, although the names and faces in the field and sidelines moved before the third year of Sanders in Boulder.
Almost every morning, Sanders publishes a motivational report by its 1.8 million followers to X and 5.2 million on Instagram. And it moves a little. When he does it, he will see one impact of last year’s 9-4 campaign, which smiles.
The comments of his 4-8 debut season, which included eight losses in the last nine team games, are sparse.
“My God, I didn’t hear that and I said it in a long time. It used to be on social media all the time,” Sanders said. “I never see it again.”
