Talrop board member arrested in case of investment fraud

The Pangode police on Friday arrested Yahiya Abdul Latheef, board member of ecosystem development company Talrop in connection with an alleged investment scam. The accused, a native of Pangode, was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by a couple from Kallara who alleged that they were cheated of ₹10 lakh after investing in a Kochi-based company.

According to the police, the complainants allegedly invested the money in 2024 and 2025 after being promised attractive returns and regular profit shares. While they initially received some payments, the returns reportedly stopped, prompting them to go to the police. An FIR was registered against four people, including Yahiya.

Police have intensified efforts to nab the remaining accused, who have been identified as Anas, Safeer Najumudeen and Sobir Najumudeen.

The alleged fraud came to light after the company laid off roughly 300 employees in a mass layoff, prompting broader scrutiny of its operations. Some of the former employees recently claimed that many people invested in the company.
