Andy Burnham was elected as the leader of the British Labor Party on Monday to become the British Prime Minister | Today’s news

Andy Burnham was confirmed as the new leader of Britain’s ruling Labor Party on Friday, paving the way for him to take over as prime minister next week, according to the AP.

The centre-left party has announced the result of a leadership election to elect a successor to outgoing Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Burnham was the only candidate in the contest.

His victory was long expected after he won the support of 379 of Labour’s 403 Commons members by Thursday night, leaving him unopposed in the race.
