
The state of Kerala Janakeeya Prathirodha Samithi (KSJPS) urged the district administration of Alappuzha to initiate urgent measures
In his statement issued on Sunday Francis Kalathonchal of KSJPS said that since November last year 65 families have been affected. Salt water reportedly began to enter the area of the “Lobby of Fish Agriculture”, which rented the rice fields pokkali for aquaculture, destroyed the waterfront, leading to the ingress of salt water from standing waters.
He recently visited a team for finding facts led by Vice President of KSJPS CR Neelakandan and interact with disabled families. A team that also included Fr. Pius Pazhayarikkal, Baiju AS and MG Sreekumar Kammath studied the problems facing the inhabitants and presented a report to the district collector Alex Vargheses. KSJPS urged the district collector to visit families in Cherunkal.
Samithi said that the losses of buildings and agriculture should be obtained from those responsible for floods. It also urged the medical department to perform a medical camp for affected residents.
