The traffic police in Cyberabad carried out a special drive against alcohol driving this weekend, resulting in retention of 222 perpetrators. This operation recorded seizures of 163 two wheels, nine three rounds, 48 four wheels and two heavy vehicles.
During the inspections, 13 individuals with blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) were found in the range of 200 mg/100 ml and 500 mg/100 ml, while five were captured by BAC levels exceeding 500 mg/100 ml. All perpetrators will be made in court.
The Police in Cyberabad reiterated that those who were found guilty of alcohol driving and causing fatal accidents could face strict legal measures. The perpetrators will be booked according to Section 105 Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit, 2023, which deals with a closed murder that does not attempt to murder. The section carries a maximum punishment for 10 years of imprisonment together with a fine.
The authorities urged motorists to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, warning against strict recovery measures to ensure road safety.
