Kinoor regulator-cum-point in the Ollur constituency received a technical sanction, said K. Rajan, MLA and Minister for Income.
The semi-permanent structure, built across the Manalipuzha River about 18 km downstream from the Peechi dam, plays a key role in increasing the water level of the river to facilitate efficient water supply through a more than 9 km Puthur channel. This in turn contributes significantly to irrigation and promotes agricultural sustainability in the region. In addition, the structure helps in charging holes and groundwater in areas in front of the controller.
The demand for regulator-cum-time (RCB) in Kainoor has been growing for more than ten years, powered by the need to alleviate traffic across the two banks of the Manalipuzha Greeks. The completion of this project not only improves connectivity, but also removes the annual maintenance costs that are currently incurred for the existing Kainoor Chira. The new structure will replace the old, 46 m long RCB designed with four closures-a 10 m long and 3 m high. The RCB dashboard will be 4.7 m wide, and the construction plans also cover access roads on both banks and the protection of the river.
All regulator shutter operations will be mechanized. The Government for this project 21 December 2024 for this project was sanctioned by Crore 10 ₹. With a technical sanction, construction is introduced immediately. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months, and the offers will be scheduled for an invitation from the Superintendent 2.
