Health Care Trust Board staff for EHS management
The Government of Telangana has vested the Employees Health Care Trust (EHCT) with full powers to administer and manage the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) for government employees, pensioners and their eligible dependents, following the reinstatement of the Board of Trustees.
In an order issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Welfare said that the reconstituted board consists of representatives of government employees’ associations and pensioners’ associations. The order follows the recent implementation of a 1.5% contribution to the EHS fund from the basic salary of serving employees and the basic pension of retirees.
The government said the board will henceforth exercise all powers and fulfill responsibilities related to the implementation, administration, management and operation of the employee health care system.
The Board has been directed to ensure that EHS funds are utilized strictly in accordance with the trust deed, rules and existing guidelines, exclusively for the benefit of employees, pensioners and their eligible family members.
The CEO of Employees Health Care Trust has been instructed to take necessary steps to implement the order.
