BJP demands strict action against private school for alleged ‘educational jihad’

Top BJP leaders have reacted strongly to the incident at a private school where a primary student was allegedly asked to recite verses from Islamic religious scriptures and called for strict action against those responsible.

Department of Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy took strong exception to the incident, describing it as an attempt to “religiously indoctrinate” innocent minors. He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy must take responsibility for the episode, saying it was the result of the Congress government’s “poisonous policy of appeasement”.

In a separate statement, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao alleged that a new trend of “educational jihad” had emerged in the Old City, which he called “highly reprehensible and inappropriate”. He also held Chief Minister Revanth Reddy “full responsible for this heinous act” and accused him of indulging in “vote bank appeasement politics”.

Mr. Ramchander Rao asked why the state government and the education department had not yet initiated strict action against the school management. He said that simply relieving the teacher of her duties was not enough and demanded stronger action against those responsible for the incident.
