IndiGo employee’s resignation: What led to superior’s foot-touching allegations at Bengaluru airport? | Today’s news
Mohammad Jamshid Y, a former IndiGo employee who worked as a ground staff member at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, alleged that he was asked to touch his supervisor’s feet to apologize after reporting for work without a tie.
He said he refused to comply, saying such a request was humiliating and had no place in a professional work environment, and subsequently put in his papers.
What did Jamshid claim?
In an Instagram video, Jamshid said the incident occurred during a routine check at Terminal 1, where a senior official allegedly noticed he was not wearing a tie. He said he had no hesitation in acknowledging the lapse, apologizing for the oversight and explaining that he had accidentally forgotten to wear it. At the same time, he assured the official that the mistake would not be repeated.

He was reportedly asked to leave the terminal after he refused to touch his supervisor’s feet.
Reflecting on the episode, Jamshid argued that while forgetting to wear a tie was purely his fault, the matter should have been handled professionally.
“I fully accept responsibility for forgetting my tie. Any breach of uniform should be handled professionally and respectfully. In my opinion, no employee should be asked to do anything that threatens their dignity and self-respect,” he mentioned.
Jamshid said he later discussed the incident with colleagues before filing a complaint with IndiGo’s ethics and compliance department. While he praised the airline for looking into the matter, he said he was unhappy with the findings.
