Dilwar Hussain Mozumder, a reporter of the Asam intelligence portal, was released on Saturday, March 29, 2025) from the central prison of Guwahati, the day after receiving the deposit in the second case against him.
He was arrested on March 25, after covering a protest against alleged financial discrepancies in the state-cited Assam Cooperative Apex Bank Limited, director of the head Minister of Hisant Bisw Sarma. Bharatiya Janata Mla Biswajit Phukan is the chairman of the bank.
The following day he was a bail, but on March 27, he was again a grief in the second case of Dambar Saikia. He was accused of trying to steal key documents after being accused of criminal intimidation and abuse of a member of the planned tribes.
In the latter case, he was looking for bail, Mr. Mozumder’s lawyer said that his re -arrest was a clear attempt to bother and intimidate journalists who reported on sensitive issues.
“I am grateful to media fraternity, lawyers and civil society organizations for standing with me. I have nothing to hide,” he said, referring to questions about his position, and allegedly practicing right and running business.
Previously, Assam civil society and Assam Film Brotherhood issued separate statements that required its unconditional release. The former condemned his backrest as a “direct attack on the media and freedom of expression” and called for an investigation into alleged corruption in a high -level bank.
