KLS GIT in Belagavi, Karnataka has launched its Center of Excellence in Precision Engineering, a ‘Factory on Campus’ initiative to bridge the gap between students, start-ups and industry.
This will be achieved through AI-enabled industrial manufacturing on campus. Besides giving students access to industrial tools, the factory would give them valuable experience before they graduate.
While launching the project, Raghavendra Srinivas Bhat, MD and CEO, Karnataka Bank said, “Industry-backed academic initiatives are essential to produce competent professionals.” He appreciated KLS GIT for creating an ecosystem aimed at integrating education with industrial practice.
Sudarshan Mogasale, CEO, Dassault Systèmes Solutions Lab, India, highlighted that empowering students in Tier-2 cities with cutting-edge digital manufacturing tools would create a globally competitive workforce for India’s aerospace and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Rajeev Kaul, MD and CEO, Aequs Limited, Belagavi, noted that the manufacturing industry is increasingly looking for engineers with hands-on experience and initiatives like this will substantially bridge the gap between academia and industry.
Pradeep Sawkar, president of the Karnataka Law Society, said he believes that educational institutions should continuously evolve by integrating new technologies and industry partnerships to produce globally capable engineers capable of driving innovation and growth.
Rajendra K. Belgaumkar, Chairman, KLS GIT, said the ‘Factory on Campus’ model will provide students with continuous exposure to industry practices and prepare them to contribute effectively from day one of their professional careers.
