Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah hinted at the possibility of new faces being inducted into the government during the upcoming expansion.
Dr. Yathindra rejected accusations by opposition leaders that a “suitcase culture” would affect cabinet expansion and said the party high command would consider efficiency and loyalty to the party while selecting ministers.
“The allegation that ministerial berths are provided in exchange for ‘suitcases of money’ is false. There is a ‘suitcase culture’ in the opposition party which makes such allegations,” he said.
Dr. Yathindra said the cabinet expansion was delayed due to the Legislative Council and Rajya Sabha elections, but expressed hope that the exercise would begin soon.
He said the party high command had invited former chief minister Siddaramaiah and chief minister DK Shivakumar to discuss the cabinet expansion.

In response to questions about flounder, Dr. Yathindra said the traditional muddy track buffalo race is also part of Karnataka’s cultural heritage.
He said he was aware of the opposition to organizing kambala during Dasara in Mysuru and added that the Chief Minister would take a suitable decision after considering all aspects of the matter.
Although no final decision has been made, Dr. Yathindra said that flounder can be organized without cutting down trees or harming the environment.
