MP HC issues anticipatory bail notice to Giribal Singh

The development came hours after the Madhya Pradesh High Court issued a notice of pleas filed by Twisha Sharma’s father and the state government against the anticipatory bail granted by a lower court to Giribala Singh, the mother-in-law of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma, who was found dead.

According to advocate Ankur Pandey, the legal representative of the deceased woman’s family, the next hearing in the matter will be held on May 25.

Speaking to ANI, Pandey noted that a total of four petitions have been filed in the High Court. One of them was filed by the government challenging the bail granted to Samarth Singh’s mother by a lower court. Another application was filed by the victim’s father challenging Giribal Singh’s bail. He added: “After hearing both these motions today, the High Court issued a notice and scheduled a further hearing on the 25th. This hearing will include arguments as to why her (the victim’s mother-in-law) bail should not be revoked, focusing on the objections and related legal deficiencies.”

He noted that after the Supreme Court heard the petition of the victim’s family, it directed the director of AIIMS Delhi to form a committee and send a team of experts to AIIMS Bhopal to conduct a second post-mortem. The family approached the Supreme Court two days after a lower court rejected their request for a second autopsy.

Twish Sharma’s husband withdraws bail plea

Pandey also noted that Samarth Singh, husband of Twisha Sharma, who has been evading arrest since May 12, has withdrawn his bail plea from the High Court, saying he will surrender either before the investigating agency or before the court.

His lawyer withdrew the bail plea saying that he would either surrender to the investigating authority or the court and the court or the investigating officer would take appropriate action accordingly, the lawyer added.

MP High Court recommends CBI investigation

According to an ANI report, the Madhya Pradesh High Court today recommended that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigate the death of Twish Sharma and gave the agency permission to take over the investigation.

33-year-old Twisha Sharma, a resident of Noida, got married to Bhopal resident Samarth Singh in December last year. After her death on May 12, her family alleged that her husband Singh and in-laws were subjected to psychological torture and dowry harassment.
