Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer V Anbu Kumar on Wednesday urged voters not to delay submission of enumeration forms under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls just because their details were not available in the 2002 electoral rolls.

“Even if your details are not available in the 2002 electoral roll, fill the enumeration form, attach your photograph, sign it and submit it to the booth level officer (BLO). Your name will continue to appear in the draft electoral roll,” Mr Anbu Kumar told reporters.

He said these voters will subsequently receive a notification from the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) based on which they can submit any of the 12 documents prescribed by the Election Commission. The ERO would then, after proper verification, adopt a decision according to the rules.

The Director General clarified that this exercise was only for the collection and digitization of enumeration forms.

“If voters want to correct their address, name, age, mobile number or any other details, they need not do so now. Such requests can be made after the publication of the draft voter list during the period for complaints and objections,” he said.

According to the revised schedule announced by the Election Commission, the draft voter list will be published on August 17, after which complaints and objections, including requests for correction, can be submitted until September 16.
