BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia will lead the ICC Governance Review Committee

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia was on Wednesday appointed as the chairman of the Governance Review Committee, a new sub-committee formed by the ICC, which also approved a loan of USD 12.82 million to Cricket West Indies.

In addition to Saikia, other members of the committee are: Dr. Mohammed Moosajee of Cricket South Africa and Dr. Ros Rivaz, ICC’s newly appointed Independent Director.

Saikia is also a member of another newly formed committee – the Franchise Leagues Committee, which will be headed by former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal.

Other members are: Dr. Rudie van Vuuren (Cricket Namibia), Richard Gould (England and Wales Cricket Board) and Todd Greenberg (Cricket Australia).

The loan, approved by the ICC to CWI, is to support the board, which is struggling for a regular cash flow.

The ICC also reviewed the progress made by Sri Lanka cricket towards the revised constitution.

“.He reiterated the need to hold elections as soon as possible and agreed that the SLC will not be able to be represented in the ICC Council meetings for the time being,” the ICC said in a statement at the end of its annual meetings here.

The global governing body also ratified the appointment of Bangladesh Cricket Board President Tamim Iqbal as a full director.

While the ICC approved the admission of Mauritius as its 111th member, Cricket Canada remained suspended until the stipulated requirements were met.

The ICC also flagged France Cricket for breaching its membership criteria.
