Engineers of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) successfully carried out wet operation of one pump of the project’s Narlapur pumping station on Tuesday. The pump was switched on after the power supply arrangement made after Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s recent visit to the project.
The arrangement of power supply on a permanent basis was made possible after the release of ₹160 crore required for the purpose and on the request of the Government Advisor for Lift Irrigation Projects. In September 2023, the two pumps of the Yedula pumping station were successfully started.
Meanwhile, former minister and BRS leader S. Niranjan Reddy expressed happiness over the successful wet operation of the Narlapur pump and suggested the government to keep political vendetta aside and work to protect the interests of the farming community, especially in a year affected by El Nino conditions. He asked the government to run the pumps which were already running wet and fill the interconnected reservoirs where there is flood in the Krishna.
