Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy sought the approval of the Union Cabinet to start work on the northern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR).

Calling on Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday (July 14, 2026), the Chief Minister said that 95% of the land acquisition in the northern part has been completed and hence the Center should give necessary clearances expeditiously. Commencement of work on the northern and southern parts of the ambitious RRR project at the same time would ensure speedy completion besides saving money to the government.

Citing the assurance of a greenfield expressway between Hyderabad and Amaravati in the Reorganization Act, the chief minister asked the Center to grant permission for the project soon. In addition, the early sanction of the proposed 12-lane expressway between Bharat Future City and Machilipatnam Port via Amaravati would reduce the distance between Hyderabad and Vijayawada by 100 km, besides enabling speedy movement of goods.

He sought Mr. Gadkari’s help in securing forests in the proposed Mannanur-Srisailam elevated corridor that would cover the Nallamala reserve forest, Srisailam temple and waterfalls in the area. The central government has been asked to approve permission for a new six-lane expressway between Hyderabad and Mancherial, proposed as an alternative to the Rajiv Rahadari. The proposed alternative route has provided scope for new opportunities in agriculture, business and other sectors.
