Three convicted murderers escape from Kalaburagi Central Jail
Three prisoners serving sentences in as many murder cases escaped from the Kalaburagi Central Jail in the early hours of Tuesday.
All three are from Bidar district. They were identified as Mastan of Islampur in Basavakalyan taluk, Santosh Basappa of Santapur village in Aurad taluk and Sagar Bhimaraya of Bakkachowdi village in Bidar taluk.
According to preliminary information, the prisoners climbed over the security wall of the prison and escaped.
The prisoners tied up clothes and sheets and used them to climb down the outside of the wall before escaping.
Soon after the incident came to light, senior jail officials and police personnel rushed to the jail and started an investigation into the incident.
The escape took place in the jurisdiction of Farhatabad police station. Special teams were formed to track down and apprehend the prisoners.
The police also stepped up checks across Kalaburagi district and beefed up security along the inter-district and state borders as part of the search operation.
