With Ugadi on Sunday there is a reflector on Mavinakay (raw manga), the basic component in many traditional delicacies such as Mavinakayi and Ugadi Pachadi.
However, sellers and consumers in Bengalur this year record significant changes in prices and demand compared to last year. In the city, raw manga rates increased, while the KR, Yeshwanthpur and Malleswaam sellers complained about several subscribers.
Kg of raw mango now stands between 60 and 120 ₹, depending on quality, jump from 50 to 100 GBP during the last Ugadi. Sellers point to bad weather and reduce revenues as an increase.
“The raw manga arrived at the end of this year compared to the last season and sell them for 60 GBP for kg, last year, but the quality is excellent,” said Shivaraj, Seller at KR Market.
“Manga prices are high due to the festival. This is the beginning of the season, and as more shares come to the market, we can see a fall in prices,” Malleswaram, Jeevitha, said.
However, consumers feel tension. Narayan, shopping for the population of Yeshwanthpur on the local market, said: “The season is just starting, but the prices are more steeper. I paid 100 for kg last year. I got twice as much for the same price.”
Sellers report sufficient supplies from regions such as Kola and Ramanagara. Despite the abundance, however, the standing remains unusually low. “The offer is good this year and there is no shortage at all, but people do not come to buy, as it was last year,” said Manjula, local dealer at KR Market.
