TANKER Foundation distributes CAPD fluid bags supported by CMCHIS

The TANKER Foundation on Monday launched the Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) fluid bag distribution program under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS), Tamil Nadu at the TANKER Rotary Dialysis Unit in Ambattur.

A press release said Georgi Abraham, President and Founder-Trustee of TANKER Foundation, who pioneered the introduction of CAPD in India in 1991, unveiled the first bag in the presence of Lath A. Kumaraswami, Managing Trustee.

On this occasion Dr. Abraham said, “The introduction of CAPD in India in 1991 marked the beginning of the journey to make home dialysis a reality for patients. Today, seeing CAPD fluid bags distributed through CMCHIS is a dream come true for all of us.”

The first CAPD fluid was distributed to a patient named KS Manoharan. Baxter PD Solutions’ Srinivasan, Guganathan and Giridharan (TANKER Area Managers) along with the TANKER Foundation team were present.
