
Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent greetings for the installation of Baselios Joseph as Catholic from Jacobobite Syrian Christian Church. “This important opportunity for the Church also reflects the rich Indian cultural and spiritual heritage, where faith, unity and service have long been in force in the formation of our society,” the Prime Minister said in his message.
“Under the leadership of the new Catholic, Jacobite Church will continue to work to strengthen society in India, especially in Kerala,” the Prime Minister said, expanding his best wishes to the new Catholic and all associated with the Church.
The Catholics took part in the global synod of the Syrian Orthodox Church in Beirut, Lebanon on Wednesday (March 26, 2025) at the Patriarchal Center atchaneh, the communication from Jacobobe Church said. Patriarch Igantios Aphrem II chaired the Syrian Orthodox Church, which was attended by about 60 metropolitans, including the newly installed Catholic.
Among other things, the Synod of the Bishops discussed the future journey of the Syrian Orthodox Church. The Synod began with the Eucharist, followed by a presentation of posts on various topics and discussions.
Communication from the official church spokesman Jacobite and Metropolitan Kuriakos Theophilus said it was the first global synod of the Church, which after its installation participated in Catholic Baselios Joseph.
After the completion of official orders in Lebanon, the Catholic will return to Kerala on Sunday (March 30, 2025) and is expected to arrive at Kochi Airport at 13:30 on arrival, will be admitted and transported to the Patriarchal Center in Puthencruz.
It will be officially installed in the Cathedral Church of St. Athanasia at the patriarchal center in the ceremony, scheduled for 15:30. The Felicitation Meeting after the installation will be inaugurated by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Alelekar.
