The NFL Committee has proposed changes to the rules for the next season around the rules for control and excavation, which will be voted next week along with several team designs, including TUSH elimination.
The Committee announced a proposal on Wednesday, which would expand the reach of immediate playback and exaggerated the field challenges, such as facial punishments, among other things.
The proposed change would enable immediate playback to “advise officials in the field of specific, objective aspects of the game and/or to deal with game management problems if there are clear and obvious video evidence”.
Among several designs for kicking rules, the committee proposed to anchor the rule of the dynamic excavation, which was last season in the trial period.
Another proposal would allow teams to announce a kick of the car at any time in the game if the kicking team ends, instead of limiting kicks to the fourth quarter.
The Committee also wants to move the touch links to the 35-yard line “If the ball lands in the final zone and is shot down in the final zone by the receiving team or disappears beyond the goal of the receiving team.” The purpose of this proposal is to create other revenues by motivating teams to go for shorter kicks without increasing the risk of injury.
The committee published the proposed changes on Wednesday, a week after the NFL teams showed their own proposals.
The proposals of the Committee for Competition will be voted, when NFL owners will meet 30 March-2 in West Palm Beach, FLA. Proposals require approval at least 24 out of 32 teams.
The Committee Wednesday’s proposals will be voted along with three team designs:
-Green Bay Packers asked for disabling the “Tush push” playing commonly used by Philadelphia Eagles.
-Eagles proposed to provide both teams guaranteed to hold overtime during the regular season, which corresponds to the current playoff rules.
-Detroit lions suggested that the play-off vaccination should be based on a record-in respect of the division. This would also mean that winning the title of division would not guarantee a home game in a wild card.
-Media on field level
