Media bodies expressed concern about the arrest of the journalist of the digital media Dilawar Hussain Mozumder by the Police Assam in the early morning hours of March 26.
Indian editors (Egi) said: “The detention of a journalist while on duty on duty is deeply disturbing.
“At a time when freedom of press is perceived as a siege throughout the country, this incident raises serious concerns about media suppression. Egi calls on Assam administration to urgently clarify the circumstances that led to his detaine Journalists.
In a separate statement, the India (PCI) press club said that a journalist – working as the main reporter of CrossCurrent – was detained at the Guwahati police station by Mr. Bazar since March 25 without any reason.
