Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary inaugurates projects worth ₹1,047 crore

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated and laid foundation stone for 982 development projects worth ₹1,047.09 crore in Muzaffarpur district on Sunday (July 12, 2026). The program was organized by Urban Development and Housing Department and Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) at MIT Muzaffarpur grounds.
These include 669 projects worth ₹375.04 crore under the ‘Mukhyamantri Samagra Shahri Vikas Yojana’ (Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme), three projects worth ₹233.77 crore under the Stormwater Drainage Scheme and the Muzaffarpur project, among others21, Smart City2.5
He also inaugurated Sikandarpur Lake Front, developed at a cost of ₹ 225.03 crore under the Muzaffarpur Smart City project. After the inauguration, the Chief Minister inspected the front at Sikandarpur Lake. A total of 673 projects were inaugurated and foundation stones were laid for 309 other projects.
Mr. Choudhary announced that 12 new townships will be built across the state, including the establishment of “Tirhut Township” in Muzaffarpur. He claimed that the construction work of Muzaffarpur airport will start soon. He added that the construction of the Patna-Muzaffarpur high-speed rail corridor will reduce the travel time between the two cities to around 40 minutes.
He expressed special thanks to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the ongoing construction of a large temple dedicated to Mata Sita at Sitamarhi. He announced that a University of Architecture and Civil Engineering would be opened at the MIT campus in Muzaffarpur. Mr. Choudhary said that this university will become a center of excellence for technical education, research and innovation and provide new opportunities for quality technical education to the youth of Bihar.
The Chief Minister said the state government was following a “zero tolerance” policy for corruption and cybercrime.
“So far around 5 lakh applications have been solved through ‘Sahyog Shivirs’ (assistance camps) which ensures speedy resolution of problems faced by people. Applicants who are still not satisfied with their problems can visit the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Patna on the second Tuesday of the month,” said Mr. Choudhary.
The Chief Minister pointed out that the State Government is effectively implementing a number of programs for the economic empowerment of women. He added that the economy of Bihar is strengthened by promoting women entrepreneurship.
“Funds have already been transferred to the accounts of 1.81 crore ‘Jeevika Didis’ to enable them to start their own livelihood. The funds will be transferred to the accounts of the remaining Jeevika Didis on the occasion of completion of 100 days of our government,” Mr. Choudhary said.
