The Kuruba community demands priority in state politics

Ahead of the subsequent local polls in the state, the Kuruba community demanded that the state government give them priority in politically important positions.

Shepherd India International and the South Indian Kuruba, Kuruma, Kurumbhan, Kuruvam and Dhangar Sangham organized a meeting in Tirupati on Sunday, with Karnataka State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority Chairman HM Revanna, also a former cabinet minister, as the chief guest.

Recalling that the community has not yet been elected as an MLC in Andhra Pradesh, he demanded that the NDA government should offer at least two seats to the community, one of which should be from the TDP, keeping in mind the promise made to the community by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the past.

The meeting passed a one-line resolution recommending the MLC headquarters to its South India president Jabbala Srinivas, announcing the formation of a delegation soon to meet Mr Naidu, working president Nara Lokesh and Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan.

Ramrao Wadkute, a Rajya Sabha member from Maharashtra, has offered to meet BJP national president Nitin Nabin and Home Minister Amit Shah soon so that the community can be properly represented.

The meeting also demanded a five-acre plot in Tirupati for a community building ‘Kanaka Bhavan’ and a ‘Kanaka Hostel’ to accommodate poor students hailing from the community.
