What started as an ordinary evening at one of Mumbai’s oldest cafes soon turned into an unforgettable experience after acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan and Hollywood actors Tom Holland and Matt Damon stopped by for tea and refreshments.
The trio visited the 108-year-old Olympia Coffee House in Colaba on Saturday night in India to promote The Odyssey. Owned by Ilyaas Choudhary and Aamir Choudhary, the iconic cafe welcomed international guests for a short visit that quickly caught the attention of onlookers.
A quiet evening turns into a starry surprise
While the arrival of Christopher Nolan, Tom Holland and Matt Damon has since become the talk of the town, Olympia Coffee House staff initially had no idea who they were serving.
According to the manager of the cafe, preparations began much earlier the day after the members of the visiting team arrived at the establishment.
talk to HT CityOlympia Coffee House manager Inayat Maredia recalled, “When our guests arrived, they first came for breakfast at 2:30, then ate outside the cafe. We didn’t even realize they were waiting, they were so upset. Later, when we Googled it, we found out that Tom is the same actor as Spider Man.”

Only after the trio arrived around 6 p.m. did the atmosphere outside the cafe begin to change. As the crowds began to gather, the staff realized they were hosting some of Hollywood’s biggest names.
Maredia said Christopher Nolan, Tom Holland and Matt Damon kept their order simple despite the growing excitement around them.
“All three came. Chai peeya, bun maskakaaya, very light snacks. They didn’t stop for more than 10-15 minutes because too much blood was lost. The bodyguards came there, the police came. They didn’t stop for more than 10-15 minutes,” he shared.
According to the manager, the presence of security personnel and police was more noticeable when people gathered outside the cafe after recognizing patrons. The Hollywood stars only stayed for about 10 to 15 minutes before leaving.
