Manchester United have confirmed that Michael Carrick will become the club’s new manager after this year’s incredible turnaround with the club. Carrick was able to seal a return to the Champions League for United and helped them to third place in the Premier League.
Carrick took over from Ruben Amorim as manager until the end of the season after the club decided to part ways with the Portuguese tactician following a rocky tenure. Since taking over at the club, Carrick has secured wins over Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. In 16 matches since taking over, Carrick won 11 of them, drew three and lost only two matches.
“Manchester United are delighted to announce that Michael Carrick will continue as head coach of the men’s first team after signing a new contract which runs until 2028.”
Carrick returned to United as head coach in January and won the Premier League Manager of the Month award after victories against Manchester City and Arsenal in his first two games. He oversaw qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League with 11 wins from 16 games and amassed the highest points tally in the Premier League since his arrival,” United said in a statement.
