GUWAHATI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong has received accreditation from the Association for Advanced Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), which is considered the gold standard in management education globally.
This achievement places IIM Shillong among an elite group of business schools worldwide that have met the rigorous AACSB standards of excellence in teaching, research, curriculum, student success and societal impact, an institute spokesperson said on Thursday (May 21, 2026).
Less than 6% of business schools worldwide have achieved AACSB accreditation, making it one of the most prestigious recognitions in management education. IIM Shillong is now among the 30 AACSB accredited institutions in India.
“This achievement reflects the collective efforts and determination of the entire IIM Shillong community to achieve global recognition. We remain committed to delivering on our strategic vision and AACSB commitments over the next six years, while continuously enhancing the Institute’s global reputation,” said Director-in-Charge, IIM Shillong, Naliniprava Tripathy.
She said the accreditation reflects the institute’s pursuit of academic excellence, sustainability-based management education, research, innovation and global engagement.
The AACSB peer review process included evaluation of the institute across strategic management, faculty quality, research, student outcomes, industry engagement and continuous improvement. The accreditation expands IIM Shillong’s opportunities for international collaboration, academic partnerships, student and faculty exchange, executive education, global research initiatives and deeper engagement with industry and policy makers.
Established in 2007, IIM Shillong is one of India’s youngest management institutes. It is also located at the highest altitude (nearly 5,000 feet above mean sea level) among the IIMs in the country, earning it the stern moniker of ‘Campus in the Clouds’. EOM
