Mediation helps 15 couples reunite after burying their differences

Fifteen couples reunited after burying their differences during family court mediation proceedings and subsequently exchanged garlands to mark their reconciliation in Dharwad on Saturday.

A total of 55 cases of matrimonial disputes were settled through mediation at the family court in Dharwad on Saturday.

Family members and court staff welcomed the development and wished the united couples well.

Chief District and Sessions Judge NV Vijay said the couples agreed to live together, settled their differences and returned home happily.

Family Court Judge Nagarajappa AK said some of the couples had lived apart for over five, 10 and even 16 years. In another case, a couple who separated just three months after their wedding was also consulted and reunited, he said.

He said the initiative received support from advocates in Dharwad and the Chief District and Sessions Judge after which 15 couples reconciled.
