US-Iran war: US CENTCOM launches third round of strikes against Tehran after IRGC attacks ship in Hormuz | Today’s news
US Central Command announced on Saturday (local time) that US forces launched a third round of strikes against Iran this week after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacked a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on X, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said: “Today at 7:15 p.m. ET, U.S. Central Command units launched the third round of strikes against Iran this week after Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces brazenly attacked the M/V GFS Galaxy, a Cypriot-flagged container ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Missing engine room and civilian crew to continue voyage. Damage.”
It also accused Tehran of failing to demonstrate compliance with the memorandum of understanding after it was held responsible for earlier attacks on merchant vessels.
CENTCOM went on to say, “In response, the United States is imposing a high cost by continuing to degrade Iran’s ability to attack civilian sailors and merchant ships moving freely through the strait. The attacks are being conducted at the direction of the Commander-in-Chief.”
This is a developing story. Further details were awaited.
