Legendary playback singer S. Janaki died at the age of 88 in Mysuru after battling age-related ailments. Affectionately known as the ‘Nightingale of South India’, Janaki has recorded more than 20,000 songs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi in a remarkable career spanning over six decades.
