At a time when restaurants in Tamil Nadu are increasing their menu prices due to soaring LPG prices and rising prices of raw materials, the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has taken a different route by offering chicken biriyani at just ₹99 at its restaurants every weekend, in a bid to attract more visitors.
“The ₹99 offer is for chicken biriyani. Each serving contains around 450-500g of chicken biriyani and comes with onion raita and brinjal gravy. This is a promotional price to make quality food accessible and attract more customers to TTDC restaurants,” said Jeyaseelan, vice president, director of tourism and managing director of TTDC.
“We have started selling it in selected TTDC restaurants and it may be extended to all tourist destinations based on customer response,” he added. The ₹ 99 chicken biriyani offer is available at 21 select TTDC locations across Tamil Nadu, including locations including Hosur, Ranipet, Ooty, Coimbatore, Kodaikanal, Chidambaram and Tirunelveli. It is expected to sell around 4,200 records.
Mr Jeyaseelan said TTDC controls costs “through efficient procurement, standardized recipes and optimized kitchen operations while maintaining quality”.
