APTA is calling on faculty and staff to join the FAPTO protest on July 14th
The Andhra Pradesh Primary Teachers’ Association (APTA) has called upon teachers and government employees across the state to participate in large numbers in a rally and demonstration organized by the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Organizations (FAPTO) at the district headquarters on 14.
In a statement issued on Friday, APTA state president Kaki Prakash Rao and state general secretary MG Mehdi said the current government, before coming to power, considered itself friendly to teachers and employees and promised to introduce a Pay Revision Commission (PRC). However, they alleged that after he assumed office, he did not give due importance to teachers’ and staff’s organizations or address their financial problems.
The leaders claimed that in the last two years, only a part of the outstanding dues had been settled without the full settlement of the arrears. They said the staff and teachers’ organizations have repeatedly submitted statements demanding the appointment of a PRC committee, declaration of interim relief (IR), payment of leave invoices and settlement of other financial matters.
APTA leaders further claimed that the government took only token measures whenever FAPTO launched protest programs. They criticized the government for asking staff to give it more time to deal with financial problems, saying such calls were unacceptable even after more than two years in office.
FAPTO has called a rally followed by a demonstration in front of district collectors on July 14 to push for settlement of outstanding financial demands. APTA leaders called on teachers and civil servants to participate in the protest in large numbers and ensure its success so that the government responds positively to their demands.
