Antarvahini Saraswati ‘Antya Pushkaralu’ begins in Kaleswaram

The 12-day ‘Antya Pushkaralu’ of river Saraswati got off to a religious start at Kaleshwaram in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Thursday.

Devotees from far and wide who braved the heat conditions thronged Kaleswaram, the seat of Sri Kalesvara Muktesvara Swami, to participate in the religious event.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla along with his wife Janaki Shukla took a sacred dip in the river at Saraswati Ghat along the banks of Triveni Sangamam later that day.

Before dawn, Sri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swami of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam performed special pujas and rituals at Triveni Sangamam, where the underground river Antarvahini Saraswati joins the Godavari and Pranahita rivers at Kaleshwaram, marking the beginning of the sacred day of the 12th.

IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu and Subsidies Minister Konda Surekha were among those present.

The Governor inaugurated the museum set up at a cost of ₹ 1.20 crore at Kaleshwaram late on Thursday evening. The museum showcases the rich history and architectural heritage of Telangana.
