The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar on Thursday (July 9, 2026) showed its strength in support of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Abhishek Kumar alias ‘Bunty’ during his nomination for the Bankipur Assembly bypoll as leaders of all alliance partners, including Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, called for victory.

Other leaders who attended his nomination include Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) President Upendra Kushwaha, Janata Dal (United) National Working Sanjay Kumar Jha, Ministers like Vijay Kumar Sinha and Dilip Kumar Jaiswal and MPs Ravi Shanjaykar Jaiswal and Sanjay Kumar Jha were also present.

A demonstration of unity and organizational strength of the NDA was witnessed at a public meeting held at the Scout and Guide Ground in Patna after Mr. Bunty’s nomination.

The seat fell vacant after BJP MLA Nitin Nabin was first nominated as the party’s national president and later elected to the Rajya Sabha. The Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) has fielded its founder Prashant Kishor, while the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has fielded Rekha Gupta.

Bihar BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Sanjay Paswan and Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular (HAMS) state president Anil Kumar were also present. All the leaders unanimously called to ensure the victory of the BJP candidate with a big margin.

After filing his nomination, Mr. Bunty went on a door-to-door campaign claiming that the people of Bankipur have always stood for the politics of development, good governance and national interests.

He expressed confidence and said that the public will once again extend their full support to ensure a historic victory in this by-election. Mr. Bunty emphasized that the trust of the people is his greatest strength and pledged to serve the public, promote development and meet the expectations of the people with utmost commitment. Praising the locals and party workers, he said former MLA Nitin Nabin had set a high benchmark for development in Bankipur Assembly constituency.

Addressing the rally, Mr. Saraogi said that BJP’s biggest strength is that it gives tickets even to dedicated workers who operate at booth level and Abhishek Kumar Sinha ‘Bunty’ is a living example of this. He added that Bankipur has been a BJP stronghold for generations as every household shares a deep and personal bond with the party.

“BJP National President Nitin Nabin ji has always stood by the people of Bankipur in their joys and sorrows and now Abhishek Kumar will continue on the same path of development,” Saraogi said.

Attacking other contesting candidates, Mr. Saraogi said that leaders who are not even known to the people of Bankipur are fighting an election where Mr. Bunty is connected to every ward and every family, while the opposition candidates’ local connections are itself questionable.

JD(U) national working president Mr. Jha said that all the five constituent parties of the alliance had entered the election fray to support him with full strength. He mentioned that Mr. Bunty had met former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and sought his blessings.

“NDA is united and under the leadership of Samrat Choudhary, Bihar is taking new levels of development. All workers must give their full strength for the election campaign,” said Mr. Jha.

Mr. Kushwaha expressed the belief that the victory of the NDA candidate is as certain as the sun rising in the east. “People stand for development, good governance and stable leadership and NDA will once again register a historic victory in Bankipur,” he added.
