Gurugram police kill 4 gunmen of Deepak Nandal gang in encounter Sushant Lok: Who was the businessman on their target? | Today’s news
Four gunmen belonging to the Deepak Nandal foreign gang were killed and another injured in a major encounter with the Gurugram Police at A Block, Sushant Lok, late on Thursday night.
Three policemen were also injured in the line of duty during the retaliatory firing, officials told news agency ANI.

According to the report, the encounter occurred when the team intercepted the miscreants who had come to open fire at the residence of the university founder’s son SGT for a ransom demand.
Police told PTI that five members of Deepak Nandal’s gang allegedly held Vishal Berry, son of Gurugram’s SGT University founder, hostage at his Sushant Lok residence.
When the Crime Branch teams reached the Sushant Lok area, the criminals had just reportedly started firing at the businessman’s house with sophisticated weapons.

The police surrounded the criminals and killed four of them in the ensuing shootout. One criminal was injured. Three policemen also suffered gunshot wounds.
Sharing the details of the operation, ACP Sadar Dharamveer Singh said, “This evening the control room received information that some armed miscreants were roaming around in a car.”
“The crime team was investigating in this regard. Meanwhile, these miscreants barged into the house of a prominent businessman who was receiving threats and blackmail from a foreign-based gangster and opened fire,” he told ANI.
“On receiving this information, the police reached the spot and ordered the miscreants to surrender but opened fire on the police. The police fired in self-defence,” the ACP added.
The injured men were admitted to hospital, police said, adding that senior officers had arrived at the scene.
A large number of illegal weapons were found at the site.
A heavy police presence remains deployed at Sushant Lok as forensic teams examine the area and further investigations are underway.
The official confirmed that five miscreants were injured in the heavy firefight and were immediately taken to a nearby hospital.
“Doctors have declared four of them dead while one is undergoing treatment. Three of our policemen were also injured in this operation and are currently undergoing treatment,” said ACP Dharamveer Singh.
A senior police officer said Berry and his family were rescued safely.
Who is Deepak Nandal?
Deepak Nandal is a gangster living abroad. He was involved in several cases of extortion and murder.
The Special Task Force (STF), Gurugram, had earlier (April 14, 2026) said that Deepak Nandal’s gang was actively involved in shootings, extortion and other criminal activities in Gurugram and surrounding areas.
According to an ANI report on July 4, Delhi-based singer Mohd Asif, known by the stage name Bismil, allegedly received blackmail threats from unknown persons using international phone numbers.
Police said another threatening call and several voice notes were received from another international number on April 23. During the calls, the caller allegedly identified himself as gangster Deepak Nandal and continued to make threats.
On May 11 this year, an alleged gunman of gangster Deepak Nandal’s gang was killed while another was injured in an encounter with the Gurugram police, officials said.
Both the gunmen were reportedly arrested from Punjab in connection with the firing at the house of singer Rahul Fazilpuria’s event organizer, Saurabh Yadav, at Kanhai village in Sector 45.
Prior to this incident, four people were arrested in connection with the firing at the house of event organizer singer Rahul Fazilpuria Saurabh Yadav in Kanhai village of Sector 45, police said.
The officer then claimed that according to preliminary investigations, Yadav and gangster Deepak Nandal were old acquaintances and had a dispute over money.
