Nagenthran urges minister to provide textbooks to schools

BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran on Wednesday cited a report published in The Hindu which pointed out that even a month after classes began, many government schools across the state were yet to receive their textbooks. He criticized School Education Minister Rajmohan for the delay.

Referring to the report, Mr. Nagenthran said it came as a shock to the parents. The minister took office just as schools reopened after the summer holidays. He should have ensured that textbooks were made available to the students, the BJP leader said.

Mr. Nagenthran further criticized Mr. Rajmohan for supporting his cabinet colleague S. Keerthan in her recent comments. “The Department of (School) Education is entrusted to you. The future of the children depends on your actions.” He also asked the minister to ensure the quality of education and the safety of children in state schools.
