Wayanad debris slide highlights: CM announces ex gratia ₹ 5 lakh to families of those killed; says the priority is to track down missing people

Chief Minister VD Satheesan told reporters after a review meeting in Kalpetta today that the government’s priority is to trace the missing people.

“The search in Zone I and Zone II has been completed but the missing persons have not been found. The search operation has now been extended to Zone III and will continue overnight. It is expected to be completed by Thursday morning. If necessary, a search will also be conducted in the river on Thursday morning,” he said.

The chief minister said that of the 10 injured, three have been admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital, while two are in serious condition. Four others remain in hospital wards, the remaining three have been discharged.
