Panels to be set up for better coordination between party and Government of Karnataka: KPCC
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President BK Hariprasad.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president BK Hariprasad said on Tuesday that a policy committee and an implementation committee would be set up for better coordination between the state government and the party. Nominations of boards of directors and corporations will be made soon, he added.
“The process is on and the list will go to the AICC. The decision will be taken after discussing with them. We cannot please everyone. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah have provided the list. Some more names are awaited,” Mr Hariprasad said after the KPCC general body meeting here.
Asked about admitting RSS and BJP leaders into the party, he said, “There are no untouchables in politics. We will admit those who realize the folly of that party and agree with our party, ideology and leadership. The party will take a decision on the future of such leaders.” He denied that the party was ignoring loyal party workers.
The workshop will be held to assess the party’s strength in the 84 Assembly constituencies where Congress candidates lost, he said, adding that Mr. Siddaramaiah and former Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily had suggested holding training programs at the district and taluk levels to understand the communal forces that would help the party better counter them.
“There has been a proposal to replace the district congress committee, which is older than 10 years. The changes will be reflected in two months. Other proposals included that caste should not become the basis of bureaucracy as ours is a secular government,” he added.
According to the AICC executive committee resolution in 2024, the responsible party from other states should travel for seven days and visit each block to recommend minimum two and maximum six names after which the district committee president is selected, he pointed out.
