Civil infrastructure was also damaged due to boulders and mud, officials said. Several vehicles were washed away. Road traffic was also affected due to the closure of the Doda-Kishtwar National Highway at a number of places.

Mr Sinha also spoke to Deputy Commissioner Doda and took stock of the situation. “Several houses and shops suffered damage. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported,” he said. “I have directed the DC to ensure immediate relief and assistance to the affected families and speed up the restoration work, including the disposal of NH-244,” he added.
