Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president BK Hariprasad on Tuesday justified the filling of enumeration forms in public places and said there was nothing stopping political parties from helping people in filling the forms.

“Census forms are filled in community halls, schools, mandirs and mosques. The Election Commission of India does not prevent it. It has set up facilitation desks and help desks. It is our responsibility to help people who cannot fill the forms. Political parties are helping them. There is nothing wrong with that,” he told reporters here after the KPCC general meeting.

Reacting to allegations by BJP and Janata Dal (Secular) that Congress was helping illegal Bangladeshi migrants, he said Union Home Minister Amit Shah was responsible for such illegal migration.

“Karnataka does not share a border with Bangladesh. If there is illegal migration, who is responsible? Mr. Shah is responsible. He should resign first. Then they can talk about Bangladeshi migrants,” he said.
