An electric car crashes into several vehicles in Hyderabad’s Kukatpally district

A speeding electric car went out of control in Hyderabad’s Kukatpally on Wednesday (May 20, 2026) afternoon, damaging several vehicles.

A video of the incident, which was captured on CCTV cameras, is doing the rounds on social media platforms. According to the police, the car was traveling from Vivekananda Nagar towards Allwyn Colony when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The car first hit the motorcycle, throwing the rider onto the road, before traveling to the other side of the road and hitting several parked vehicles. The vehicle eventually stopped after hitting the tiffin centre, triggering panic among local residents and motorists in the area.

Kukatpally inspector KV Subba Rao said the driver claimed that brake failure led to the accident. He was taken into custody shortly after the accident.

But the police ruled out drunken driving as the cause of the accident. Further investigations are underway to determine the exact sequence of events and whether there was any mechanical failure.
