Lanka Dinakar, Chairman of the Twenty Point Program Implementation Committee (Swarna Andhra – Viksit Bharat) said on Saturday that the dropout rate has come down significantly in Kakinada district thanks to Talliki Vandanam and Dokka Seethamma Mid-Day Meal Scheme.
During 2025-26, the total enrollment in 1,861 schools in the district has increased to 2.87 lakh students, including 1.23 lakh students in 1,250 government schools, Mr. Dinakar said in a report.
Assessing the education sector, Mr. Dinakar added that Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) generate valuable suggestions from students, parents and teachers regarding quality education, nutrition and school infrastructure.
Kakinada District Collector MN Harendhira Prasad and Joint Collector Apoorva Bharat shared details of implementation of various welfare schemes and initiatives in health and education sectors.
They claimed that almost 100% institutional births are reported across the district and that special neonatal services are provided at Kakinada Government General Hospital for babies born with birth defects.
Mr. Dinakar was informed that the construction of Primary Health Centers (PHC) has been completed in Rajapudi, Geddanapalli, Kotananduru, Sankhavaram and Panduru. These PHCs are being built with ₹50 lakh under the 15th Finance Commission grant.
Appealing to officials to reduce maternal and infant mortality, Mr. Dinakar directed officials to prepare long-term drinking water plans under AMRUT 2.0.
